Vertex Agro Limited is one of the leading cashew processing factories in Africa with an installed processing capacity of 25mt per day, processing and exporting high quality Kernels to the world. Vertex Agro Ltd contracted Nigeria Agribusiness Register (www.nar.ng) to provide extension support services to local cashew farmers in Kogi State.
The overall goal of the extension project is to develop consistent and sustainable rural community based supply chain for sourcing of quality RCN in sufficient quantity and at a competitive price; to Improve the livelihood of the cashew farmers (especially youths and women) in the project location and the host community generally; procure 100% of RCN directly from local cashew farmers (especially youth and women) by 2024/2025. It is in furtherance of the above goals that Vertex Agro Limited through Nigeria Agribusiness Register organized a 2-day Training of Trainers (ToTs) Exercise on the 8th -9th November, 2021 for Local Community Trainers (LCTs) in Kogi state across four different communities - Abocho, Etutekpe, Ochaja and Iyala all in Dekina LGA, Kogi State. The trained Local Community Trainers have begun to cascade the training to cashew farmers within their respective clusters.
